Zunch SEO Report Card Featured in DM News

By Giselle Abramovich- DM News

Zunch Communications Inc. has introduced the SEO Report Card to let small and midsize businesses compete with their larger counterparts on the Web.

The report card grades SMBs on critical optimization aspects of Web sites.

Zunch created the SEO Report Card because we love helping businesses propel in the search engines," said John G. Sanchez, chairman/CEO at Zunch Communications, Dallas. "However, some small businesses may not have the budget for a traditional SEO agreement.

"That is where the SEO Report Card comes in," he said. "This report fills a void in the market, offering affordable and professional advice from proven experts to help these businesses actively compete on the Web."

The report card gives a broad analysis of a site and identifies any drawbacks that obstruct search engine optimization performance. There is a one-time fee for the report card. Zunch  is an international interactive marketing agency that offers SEO services.

"This comprehensive report, complete with handwritten notes, is perfect for new Web site owners or marketers who are ready to dive into SEO but could use direction from a leading expert," Mr. Sanchez said."

Study: Google Crushes U.S. Search Competitors

Google retained its commanding lead of the U.S. search engine market in June, when it handled almost half of all queries, leaving competitors such as Yahoo and Microsoft to fight for the remaining usage share, Nielsen/NetRatings said Friday.

Google processed almost 2.67 billion queries, or 49.4 percent of June's total, while Yahoo followed in a distant second place with 1.24 billion, for a 23 percent market share.

Microsoft's MSN unit (10.3 percent), Time Warner Inc.'s AOL LLC (6.9 percent) and IAC/InterActiveCorp's Ask.com (2.3 percent) rounded out the top five.

In terms of usage growth, Ask.com led the pack with 66 percent more queries than in June 2005, followed by Google (31 percent) and Yahoo (29 percent.) MSN and AOL had growth below 4 percent each.

Online ads delivered along with search engine results have become a multibillion dollar market in recent years, almost single-handedly fueling Google's impressive revenue growth and stratospheric stock price.

Drawn by the revenue opportunity, Yahoo, Microsoft, AOL and Ask.com have all invested heavily in their search engine services and search-based ad offerings.  -PC World

Technology Terms Amongst New Words for 2006

Merriam-Webster online has announced a list of new words for 2006 to be added to the popular dictionary. Technology and computer words are at the top of the list with “mouse potato”, “ringtone” and “spyware”. That’s three less words to tie up my spell checker.

Everyone has noticed computer and Internet words being used as a part of our daily language. These days, you don’t “debrief” from a meeting, you “download.” This is just another example of how we continue to reinvent our language and communication as our culture (and technology) evolves.

At Zunch, we see new terms coined daily. In the SEO world, keeping up with the latest trends is a challenge that keeps us on our toes. It takes a special person to envelope themselves into the technology. We’re passionate about what we do and strive to do it better every day.

We should start a "Zunchionary." More on that later...

iPod Therefore I Am

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine was carefully setting up his collection of mp3’s. He verified the track names, artist names and all the other associated metadata. I asked why he would bear the cumbersome task of doing so and the answer was straightforward, “To reduce seek time”.

The iPod’s intuitively simple interface, without a doubt, took the world of MP3 players by a storm. Apple’s iTunes store, an operating system agnostic application, made it easier than ever for their customers to import and download all their music, and as an added bonus, let them manage it any way they please.

Google made it just as intuitively simple to locate desired relevant content by typing in a few keywords. The algorithm’s they utilize (evil or not) vary over time as marketing firms grow privy to their ranking methodologies. Our SEO specialists are well aware of this and strive to remain on top of their game which in turn allows Zunch to compete at the peak of our abilities.

Our zContentManager, much like the iTunes store, allows our customers to upsert (update and insert) and manage content. It then renders this content in well-formed HTML code for both spiders and browsers alike using industry best practices. Our clients get the best rankings and this reduces seek time for their clients.

Everyone wins!

New FCKeditor 2.3 Faster and Less Buggy

I've come to love Frederico Caldeira Knabben's HTML text editor.  And to my relief, the common problems I've ever encountered with the WYSIWYG have been fixed allowing for a more smooth operation.

Examples would include a memory fix in IE where over time it was using up more ram.  A small security problem was fixed and the security warning on IE over HTTPS has been removed.  But that's not the best part. The new Toolbar Sharing system, a system in which all of the buttons on the interface have merged into one, allows the editor to move up to 3x faster. Faster is always better. This also allows a much easier way to skin the tool.

Cool new features include mouseovers on some of the buttons like text color and background color. Also the "src" of images can now be set using CSS. They've also added a new toolbar button allowing the new "Fit to Window" feature. Snazzy. The new features will be very helpful for both Zunch clients and HTML developers like myself who use our zMS. Be on the lookout for the newest version of FCKeditor technology in all current and future Zunch products.
